Karachi: South Africa's cricket team trained at National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday, ahead of their Test series against Pakistan.
It will be the first time that Pakistan hosts Test cricket on home soil since a deadly attack on the Sri Lanka team bus in Lahore suspended foreign tours of the country in 2009.
Pakistan have played at neutral venues for their 'home' matches since, but did stage a limited overs series against Sri Lanka last year.
Meanwhile, South Africa's Faf du Plessis said he and his team-mates feel "very safe" ahead of his first-ever international Test on Pakistan soil.
It is the third time that Du Plessis has travelled to Pakistan in less than four years. However, it is his first time in 'Proteas' Test colours.
The middle-order batsman captained an ICC World XI team for three Twenty 20 internationals in Lahore in 2017 and then returned to Karachi last year for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League 2020 play-offs.
"So that was the first step to bring any sort of cricket back. And I think what they really did really well at that stage was to bring players from all around the world to come and play here, to see that the security levels were going to be very, very good. You know, obviously, I was there, I was captain of the team, so for me to go back to South Africa and I speak of my experiences in Pakistan and I felt safe, that was a huge step to where we are today," Faf said.
South Africa will play two Tests and three Twenty20 internationals during the tour, which starts on 26th January.
