Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh): India rode on Virat Kohli's impressive 95 to beat New Zealand by four wickets in the league game of the ongoing World Cup 2023 here on Sunday.
Pacer Mohammed Shami made a strong statement in his maiden game of the World Cup 2023 claiming a five-for as India bowled out New Zealand for 273. For New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell notched up a ton and went ahead to record his highest ODI score of 130. Except for him and Rachin Ravindra (75 of 87 deliveries), New Zealand batters were largely clueless against the Indian bowling attack. India's impressive death bowling especially Shami's pin-point yorkers, kept New Zealand tied up as the Rohit Sharma-led side bundled them out after electing to field. India then the chased the target with two overs to spare and continued the winning run. Chase Master Virat Kohli once again showed his mettle and stood up or his team when needed.
