Pune: Defending champions England trounced the Netherlands by a whooping 160 runs in their league stage fixture of the ODI ICC World Cup here on Wednesday. It was clinical show from England, who first posted a challenging 339/9 on the board and then bundled out for 179.
Paul van Meekeren (4) was the last man to be dismissed as ge was stumped by skipper Jos Buttler off Moeen Ali. England dominated right from the start till the end.
The Netherlands batter made a beeline to the pavilion as Logan van Beek and Roelof van der Merve and Aryan Dutt fell in quick succession. The Netherlands was reeling at 174/9 and starring at a huge defeat.
Spinner Moeen Ali dismissed rival skipper Scott Edwards (38 off 42 balls) in the 34th over. Edwards, who hit three boundaries and a six, gave a sitter to Dawid Malan at mid-off.
