World Cup 2023 | Bangladesh beat Sri Lankas by three wickets; register only second win

Bangladesh trounced Sri Lanka by three wickets at the Aruj Jaitley stadium in Delhi in the league stage of the ongoing ICC Men's ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 on Monday. Bangladesh chased the 280-run target with ease, thanks to Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Shanto's knocks.

Bangladesh have been ousted from the World Cup but still they have a chance to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, has won only two matches out of seven games and still has a slight chance to make it to the semi-final stage.

New Delhi: Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by three wickets in the league stage match of the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Monday.

Bangladesh, who were already eliminated from the marquee tournament, first bundled out Sri Lanka for 279 despite Charith Asalanka's gritty ton. The Bangla Tigers then chased the target in 41.1 overs and three wickets to spare.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz fell in the 41st over, but Towid Hridoy and Tanzim Hasan Sakib took the team home as Bangalesh won with ease. Tanzim Hasan Sakib hit the match-winning boundary as celebrations erupted in the Bangladesh camp.
