3rd Test: India 99/3 at Day 1 stumps in reply to England's 112 all out

Rohit Sharma will resume batting on day 2 at his personal score 57 not out. Earlier on the day, Axar Patel delighted crowds at his home ground by taking a six-wicket haul for 38 runs after England captain Joe Root opted to bat first winning the toss.

Ahmedabad: At the end of day 1 of the pink-ball Test here at the Narendra Modi Stadium, India took firm control of the game on Wednesday. After bowling out England for 112, India scored 99 for the loss of three wickets at stumps. The hosts are currently trailing by 12 runs.

Rohit Sharma scored unbeaten 57 while captain Virat Kohli managed to pile on 27 before Jack Leach bamboozled him.

However, Chesteshwar Pujara could not open his tally while opener Shubman Gill fell for 11.
