Afghanistan Cricket Board on Friday announced that Asghar Afghan has been sacked as Afghanistan skipper ahead of the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2019.
ACB have decided to spilt the national team's captaincy among Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan and Rehmat Shah. While Naib has been given the helm of ODI team, Rashid Khan will lead Afghanistan in T20I and Rahmat Shah will be in charge of the Test team.
Ashgar was named Afghanistan's skipper in 2015, he replaced Mohammad Nabi as national skipper. Under Ashgar's leadership Afghan team became a full member of International Cricket Council (ICC), he also guided Afghanistan to their maiden Test victory over Ireland last month.
Afghanistan will next tour to Scotland and Ireland in May under Gulbadin Naib's leadership. They will also one-off game against Pakistan and hosts England before the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The Afghan team will start their WC campaign against Australia on 1 June.
