- It was the first time when the two countries confronted each other for a World Cup match and India won it by 43 runs. Sachin Tendulkar was named as the Player of the Match.

1996
1999
- The match was played in the backdrop of the Kargil war and India won it by 47 runs.
- Venkatesh Prasad was named as the Player of the Match as the pacer produced one of his finest displays in World Cup and claimed 5/27 from 9.3 overs to bowl out the Pakistanis for just 180 runs.
2003
- The match was played on March 1, 2003 at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
- Interestingly, this World Cup encounter was the only occasion when Pakistan batted first setting India a target of 274. However, it didn't matter much as India won the game by 6 wickets.
- Also, Tendulkar won Player of the Match award as he smashed Pakistani bowlers all around the park en route to his 98 off just 75 balls.
2011
- The match was played in Mohali on 30 March 2011 and India defeated Pakistan by 29 runs.

- However, Pakistan failed to chase the modest target and they were bowled out for 231.
- Tendulkar was once again declared Man of the Match for scoring a fighting 85.
2015
- The match was played on February 15 , 2015 at Adelaide Oval. India won the game by 76 runs.
- Interestingly, after opting to bat first, India posted 300/7, which is the highest team total in India vs Pakistan matches at the World Cup.
- The total proved a tad too much for Pakistan to chase as they were bowled out for 224 runs in 47 overs.
- Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match for his masterful century.
