Leeds: India thrashed Sri Lanka by 7-wickets at Headingley on Saturday. This win helped the Men in Blue top the table as both the openers, Rohit Sharma (103) and KL Rahul (111) made their respective centuries.
Chasing a modest total of 265 runs, India crushed Sri Lanka after chasing down the total in the 44th over. Rohit smashed yet another century, his fifth in the tournament and third on the trot, as he along with KL Rahul, who also scored his first World Cup ton, stitched on a 189 runs partnership for the first wicket that ensured India an easy win.
Earlier Angelo Mathews scored his 3rd ODI ton, as he along with Lahiru Thirimanne, who scored 53, helped the Lions post a tricky total of 264/7 in 50 overs.
This victory has helped the Men in Blue move to the top of the table and can finish in the same place given Australia lose to South Africa which is being played at Old Trafford, Manchester.
India have finished their league stage with seven wins and one no-result, while their only loss came against the hosts England on Sunday, 30th June.
India are now set to play either of England or New Zealand in the semis, and their opponents will be finalised after the completion of the Australia and South Africa match.
