London: In India's second outing in the 2019 World Cup Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma battered Australia bowlers as per their will to set flurry of records at The Oval on Sunday.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have become the most successful opening pair against Australia in ODI cricket, overtaking the tally of 1,152 runs achieved by Windies pair of Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes.

The duo broke Greenidge and Haynes' record while adding 127 runs to India's tally of 352 for 5 from the opening wicket.
Rohit and Dhawan also notched the record of highest opening stand for India against Australia in the World Cup history in the same game, breaking their own record of 76 runs, which they made at the Sydney Cricket World Cup during the last edition of World Cup in 2015.
Meanwhile, Dhawan achieved an individual record as he became only the third Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar (6) and Sourav Ganguly (4) to smash at least three hundreds in World Cup.

The southpaw, who smashed two hundreds in the 2015 World cup, notched his first ton of the 2019 World Cup off just 95 balls. Overall, it was the 33-year-old's 17th ODI hundred, and the fourth against Australia. Dhawan's century is also India's 27th ton, most by any team in World Cup history. Australia sit behind India in the list with 26 hundreds, while Sri Lanka have 23 centuries so far in the World Cup.
Earlier, Rohit joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards and Desmond Haynes in an elite list of cricketers as he became the 4th player to aggregate 2000 runs in ODIs against Australia.
