Ontario: Former Indian legend Yuvraj Singh, who recently announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket, is all set to join Toronto Nationals in Canada T20 League.
Yuvraj, who was the man of the tournament in the 2011 World Cup, was signed by the Toronto Nationals in the player draft to play in the second season of the league, commencing on July 25.
- Second Innings
At the time of announcing retirement, the legendary player expressed the desire to play T20 leagues around the world. He also took the written permission for the same.
“With BCCI’s permission, I would love to go, play and have fun for this year or maybe next year. I don’t know what’s left in me. It has been a very long and hard journey and I think I deserve that. I have had a word with BCCI and will have another after this announcement. Hopefully, it will be easy sailing for me,” Yuvraj said during his retirement speech.
- UV and Cancer
Yuvraj was on the peak of his career when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. The left-hand batsman was a vital clog in Indian team which clinched the 2011 WC. His fitness and form saw a major downfall after the diseases. But it was UV's never give up attitude that kept him in the game for so long.
- Last ODI in 2017
UV last played an ODI for India in 2017 against West Indies where he managed to score 39 runs in 55 balls in India's win. Ever since then he could not make it into the Indian squad.
- IPL
Yuvraj was out of form before the 12th edition of IPL and in the auction, no team was ready to bid on the veteran player. He was finally picked by Mumbai Indians who played him in the XI for first four matches in which the talismanic batsman could only manage to score 98 runs.
- Last Chance for UV fans
This will be UV's last chance to perform for his millions of fans across the world. He will be accompanied by another Indian cricketer Manpreet Singh Gony in the squad of Toronto Nationals.
