Smith looked sloppy in the first innings in Adelaide as he faced 29 balls to score just 1 run only to be sent to the pavilion by R Ashwin. However, if his records are anything to go by, Smith will look to come good against India at MCG.

On being asked about his record at MCG, he said, "As you said, I think my Boxing Day record is probably, you know, my best in Australia of all the grounds. I think so.. no, I like batting at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground), those sort of big occasions. I'd like to try and make the most of them and help the team out. So there's nothing like the sort of thrill or the I guess you get the shivers down your spine when you walk out to bat on Boxing Day.

"The crowd yelling and sort of like a dream come true in a way. I think as a kid, I always wanted to play in a Boxing Day Test match. I always remember watching the Boxing Day Test at home and with the family after Christmas. And you had to walk out on Boxing Day and play, you sort of get the shivers down your spine and the hairs on the back of your neck rise up. And it's just a great feeling."

India face Australia in the second Test match to be held from December 26 to 30 in Melbourne.
