Hyderabad: The much awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has entered its second week and it has already disappointed the cricket fans around the globe by setting the record for the most number of matches not producing a result due to bad weather in a single edition.
The whole tournament is under the big threat of rain as four games have been washed out so far in the span of two weeks and with a wet spell forecast all over England for the remainder of this week, this tally can still grow.
Meanwhile, the most recent game to get abandoned was between India and New Zealand on Thursday, June 13 in Nottingham and now the question arises, what will the fans who paid for the tickets get in case of an abandoned match?
- According to ICC World Cup Rain Policy, "If play is restricted or does not take place at the Venue on the day for which a Ticket is valid, including any Reserve Day, the Ticket purchaser may claim a refund of the Original Sale Price of that Ticket (excluding fees) subject to there being: (a) 15 overs or less because of adverse weather conditions - a full refund; (b) 15.1 overs to 29.5 overs because of adverse weather conditions - a 50% refund."
Interestingly, ICC doesn't have to shell out refund amount from its own pocket as the global governing body of cricket has these games insured and the insurance company will pay the buyers back in case of washouts.
