Dehradun: Amid controversy surrounding Wasim Jaffer's resignation as Uttarakhand coach owing to a dispute with the state association over selections in the team, Cricket Association of Uttarakhand secretary Mahim Verma said there has never been any interference from the secretary and selections are done solely by an appointed committee.
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Verma opened up on the dispute with Jaffer and selection matters in the state team.
On Wasim Jaffer's resignation
We brought in Wasim Jaffer for the betterment of the team. Whatever the issue was with the selection committee, it is his thought. I still don't have any problem with him. He has been in the team with us. We tried to manage everything. It couldn't happen.
On Selection matters
There is no role of Secretary in selection matters. We have a selection committee for that. The committee comprises all the senior players. There is no fraud. It's for everybody to see. The selections, trials are very open here, anyone can see it. It's the only state where such a procedure is followed. Why don't you prove the fraud? I have set up a committee for everything. If you are witnessing fraud, prove it. It's easy to accuse, but prove it if there is anything.
