Hyderabad: Cricket has over the years evolved as a batsmen's game. In modern-day cricket, bowlers on most of the occasions find them at the receiving end. But there are some rare matches where bowlers dominate the batsmen. Sometimes bowlers don't even let batsmen get off the mark. Scoring runs, which seem easy nowadays, becomes difficult and batsmen struggle to find a way to nullify challenges offered by bowlers.
So here we discuss five lowest team totals ever recorded in ODI cricket. We have only considered records held by Test-playing nations.
1. 35 all out
This is the lowest ever score recorded by any team in One-Day-International cricket. During Sri Lanka's tour of Zimbabwe in 2004, the African team was dismissed for 35 in 18 overs at Harare Sports Club. None of the Zimbabwe batsmen could reach double-digit mark.
The highest score of the innings was 7, scored by Dion Ebrahim, which was same as the extras. Chaminda Vaas took four wickets for 11 while Farveez Maharoof scalped 3 for 3. Sri Lanka chase down the target in the 10th over losing just the wicket of Russel Arnold.
ICC Associate Member USA were also bowled out for 35 in February 2020 during a match against Nepal.
2. 43 all out
In 2012, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 43 against South Africa at Paarl. It is the fifth-lowest score in ODI cricket history and third-lowest score registered by a Test-playing nation. The record of the first and second-lowest team total is held by Zimbabwe.
While chasing South Africa's 301, the entire Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 43 runs in 20.1 overs. The only batsman who managed to cross the double-digit mark is Kosala Kulasekara who scored 19 and took Sri Lanka past Zimbabwe's 35. Morne Morkel took 4 wickets for 10 runs while Lonwabo Tsotsobe took 3 wickets for 12 runs.
Robin Petersen took 2 wickets for 5 runs while Dale Steyn got one for 7 runs.
Sri Lanka lost the match by 258 runs.
In 1993, West Indies bowled out Pakistan for 43, which is their lowest ODI score.
Sri Lank's previous lowest was 55 which they scored against West Indies in 1986 in Sharjah.

In 2004, West Indies equalled India's tally as South Africa bowled out them out inside 23.2 overs at Cape Town.
4. 58 all out

Two Bangladesh batsmen managed to surpass double figures. While Junaid Siddique scored 25 Mohammad Ashraful amassed 11 runs.
This is the fourth-lowest total in ODI World Cup history. The lowest ever score in a World Cup was 36 all out, scored by Canada against Sri Lanka in Paarl in 2003 edition.
In 2014, Bangladesh repeated their 2011 horrific feat. This time the opponent was India. Batting first India were bowled out for 105. In reply, Bangladesh were bowled out for 58. They lost the match by 47 runs. Stuart Binny took 6 wickets for 4 runs while Mohit Sharma took 4 wickets for 22 runs.
