Hyderabad: Since its inception in 2008, the cash-rich Indian Premier League has caught the imagination of the fans not just in India but across the globe. This 11-year-old league has given spectators many magical moments from the field of cricket.

As they say, 'catches win matches' and there have been some spectacular efforts over the years. With the 12th edition of the IPL just around the corner, we here look at the list of players with the most number of catches in the history of the league:

5. Dwayne Bravo - 69 catches

Dwayne Bravo is one of the finest all-rounders to have ever played in the IPL. The West Indian is not just an attacking middle-order batsman but someone who is a wicket-taking bowler as well. Add to that, he is very athletic in the field and over the years he has taken some stunning catches which makes him an asset to any team.

The 35-year-old has played for Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions in IPL. While representing these three teams, Bravo has taken 69 catches while fielding in the outfield and sometimes on his own bowling as well.

4. Kieron Pollard - 74 catches

Another West Indian, another all-rounder, another great fielder !!! The six-feet Keiron Pollard has created an aura taking stunners near the boundary ropes and batsmen nowadays, think twice before hitting a lofted shot over his head.

The 31-year-old Pollard has taken 74 catches in 132 matches that he has played for Mumbai Indians.

3. AB de Villiers - 78 catches

AB de Villiers, known as the Superman of cricket for his outstanding fielding skills, is on the third spot in the list of most catches in IPL history. The South African legend while playing for Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Banglore has taken 78 catches.

The 35-year-old is a fielder who always fields on the hotspots, thus giving himself more opportunity to grab catches. The Proteas has retired from the international cricket but will be seen playing the 12th edition of IPL which will start later this month.

2. Rohit Sharma - 79 catches

India vice-captain Rohit Sharma stands second in the list of most number of catches as he has grabbed one more than AB. The stylish Mumbai Indians skipper has proved himself not just as one of the best batsmen but also one of the safest fielders in the IPL.

The 30-year-old may not be the quickest on the ground but has one of the safest pair of hands. Having played for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians, Rohit has taken 79 catches in 173 matches.

1. Suresh Raina - 95 catches

No IPL stat will ever be complete without the mention of Mr IPL, Suresh Raina, the man who has played most number of matches in the tournament and has also taken most catches. The 32-year-old is 5 catches away from becoming the first player in the history of IPL to take 100 catches.

Raina is one fielder who stands in the most important positions in every phase of the match. In the first six overs, he is positioned in slips or at point. After that in the middle over, he patrols the inner circle and in the death overs, he can be seen on the boundaries making fielding look very easy.
