Mumbai: Rahul Johri, the first-ever Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has reportedly resigned from his post on Sunday. However, in an interesting turn of events, neither Johari nor the board is confirming the development.
Johri joined as BCCI CEO in 2016. And it has been learned that his decision to step down from his post has come after the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) exited in October last year.
According to a report published in a leading English newspaper, Johri had put in his papers “some time ago.”
“He quit some time ago. We have no idea what his plans are in the near future. We don’t even know who all he had marked his email to or if he’s given it in writing to the office-bearers. But it’s certain that he has submitted his resignation,” sources told a leading English newspaper.
When the Daily had asked Johri about the development, Johri said, he had “nothing to say”.
Johri joined Indian cricket board when Shashank Manohar was the BCCI president. Ever since resuming his position as BCCI CEO, Johri has been responsible for functioning of operations, stakeholder management and building strategies for further promoting the sport.
During his tenure, BCCI took a giant step in broadcasting. He was also responsible for the Indian Cricket team’s current sponsorship agreement.
Before joining BCCI, Johri has served as Executive Vice President and General Manager – South Asia for Discovery Networks Asia Pacific.
