Karachi: Pakistan trained at the National Stadium in Karachi on Thursday, ahead of their historic Series against South Africa.

It is the first home Test Pakistan have played against a foreign team after tours were halted following a terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka team's bus at Lahore in 2009.

Pakistan team coach Muhammad Yousuf said,"After a long time, the South African team has visited Pakistan. Our future cricket stars will experience international cricket players in the local field, they will get a boost and learn a lot, it is a big step of PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board). I give credit to South Africa as they visited Pakistan. We offer a warm welcome to South African cricket players."

Earlier, South Africa's Faf du Plessis said he and his team-mates feel "very safe" in Pakistan.

"Obviously, the last time was 13 years or so ago and (we) knew that white-ball cricket was happening here. But, red-ball cricket, Test cricket is something that I did not think was going to happen this soon. So I am looking forward to it. I hope that it is the same that it was 13 years ago where the wickets were flat and that us, as batters, can score some runs. But we will have to see if it stayed the same because it has been a minute since the last time we played or cricket has played here," du Plessis said.

South Africa will play two Tests and three Twenty20 internationals during the tour which starts in Karachi on 26th January.
