#MeToo: New Zealand booed their own player during 2nd T20I against India

Auckland: Scott Kuggeleijn, who was playing his 3rd T20 international for New Zealand on Friday, is in news after the Blackcaps lost the second game of the three-match T20I series against India.

The allrounder has failed to make an impact yet as he has bagged just 1 wicket and has scored only 57 runs in 3 matches and the 27-year-old cricketer was booed by home fans, but not for his average performance instead for his off-field controversy.

Kiwi fans were not happy with the decision of New Zealand Cricket to play Kuggeleijn, who is the son of former New Zealand Test cricketer Chris Kuggeleijn, as he had been charged with rape in 2015. The trial of the case took place in 2016 and 2017.

Later, the jury comprising six men and six women ruled in favour of the cricketer, who revealed that the victim had told him twice that she didn’t intend to have physical relations with him during the incident.

Meanwhile, many criticized the decision New Zealand Cricket to play the all-rounder in the international matches even after he admiting about the sexual abuse.

On Fiday, the home fans started booing Scott as soon as he took the field during the second T20I against the Men in Blue and they were also seen holding the posters reading "No Means No" and "Wake up NZ cricket #Metoo".
