Hyderabad: South Africa defeated Pakistan by 17 runs in the second ODI to level the three-match series 1-1 on Sunday. It was a much closer affair than it should have been because of Fakhar Zaman's brilliant 193 in a losing effort. Fakhar took 155 balls to reach that stage and he decorated his innings with 18 fours and 10 sixes to give South Africa a big scare.
South Africa won the close clash, but Fakhar Zaman won the hearts of the cricketing world.

Pakistan was 205-7 at one stage before Fakhar really got going but ultimately finished on 324-9 chasing 342 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
During his 193 runs innings, the 30-year-old has set quite a few astonishing records. Though he missed out on his second double ton, he notched the unique record of scoring the highest score in ODI cricket history while chasing a colossal target.
The record of the highest score while chasing a target was earlier held by former Australia batsman Shane Watson who scored 185 against Bangladesh in 2011.

Fakhar, meanwhile, became the highest scorer at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg while chasing a target in an ODI. Earlier, the record was held by Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa who played 177 runs innings in a successful chase against Australia in 2006.
Fakhar has also become the first player from Pakistan to have played 150+ innings in ODI cricket twice. In 2018, he scored an unbeaten 210 against Zimbabwe, becoming the first Pakistani batsman to hit ODI double ton.

Fakhar Zaman's 193 is the highest score by any player on South Africa soil. The record was earlier held by former Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis (185).
