Chasing a mammoth yet reachable target of 209, SRH did not have the idol start as they lost their first wicket in Jonny Bairstow. He was dismissed by Trent Boult for 25.
Even after losing one wicket SRH somehow managed to keep the run rate in check. Manish Pandey and Captain David Warner then stitched together a much-needed partnership. When the score was 94 by the end of 10th over James Pattinson sent back Pandey, who tried to loft one and was caught at long-off. The right-hand batsman scored 30 of just 19 balls with the help of four boundaries and one maximum.
Wickets kept falling at one end but SRH skipper Warner was playing confidently at the other end. Boult in his second spell removed Kane Williamson. Last matches' heroes Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma also failed to make an impact in the chase. Both were dismissed by Krunal Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah respectively.
When the run rate started going above 12, Warner panicked and started playing aggressively. The left-hander reached his first fifty of the season as well but thanks to a superb catch by Ishan Kishan Warner was sent back to the dugout on the score of 60 in just 44 balls.
For Mumbai, Boult, Pattinson and Bumrah picked two wickets each while Krunal Pandya took one wicket.
Earlier in the first innings, Riding on Quinton de Kock's 67 and late blitzkriegs by Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya (20 off 4 balls), Mumbai Indians set 209 runs target.
Batting first Mumbai Indians didn't get off to a good start as they lost their skipper Rohit Sharma for 6 in the very first over. Sandeep Sharma, who is playing his second match in the IPL 2020, got him caught by wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow.

After Rohit's departure, opener Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav forged a 42-run partnership off 31 balls. However, Siddarth Kaul soon gave SRH the breakthrough they were looking for sending Suryakumar back to the hut on his personal score 27.
Fall of two wickets in the powerplay didn't deter de Kock playing his natural attacking game. He with Ishan Kishan (31 off 23) by his side added 78-run for the fourth wicket.de Kock and Kishan have especially been severe on Kane Williamson, scoring 17 runs from his second over. The duo followed it up with another 15-run off Kaul.
In the first delivery of the 14th over, Rashid Khan helped SRH get rid of de Kock taking a return catch off his own bowling. de Kock scored 67 off 39 balls. Ishan Kishan too was removed in a span of an over by Sandeep Sharma.
But late blitzkriegs from Hardik Pandya (28 off 19) and Kieron Pollard (25 off 13) helped MI post 208 for 5 at the end of 20 overs. The duo added 41 runs for the sixth wicket stand. Kaul was the most expensive bowler as he conceded 64 runs from his four overs taking two wickets. Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first.
