After winning the toss, MI captain Rohit Sharma opted to bat first but failed to get going as he was dismissed for 9 in the third over by Arshdeep Singh.

Dubai: Opening batsman Quinton de Kock and all-rounder Krunal Pandya helped Mumbai Indians post 176/6 against Kings XI Punjab here at the Dubai International Stadium. de Kock smashed a fifty while Pandya scored a much needed 34 runs knock.

After winning the toss, MI captain Rohit Sharma opted to bat first but failed to get going as he was dismissed for 9 in the third over by Arshdeep Singh.

Mumbai side lost three quick wickets as after captain, Suryakumar Yadav went for a duck and Ishan Kishan was dismissed for 7. MI was reduced to 38 for 3 in the powerplay. de Kock was looking solid at one end by need support from the other. Krunal Pandya was promoted up the order and played good innings of 34 in just 30 balls.

Pandya was sent back by M Ashwin. Then the younger brother Hardik Pandya came on to bat, who could not make any impact as he was dismissed by Mohammed Shami after hitting a six. de Kock was sent back to the dugout by Chirs Jordan.

In the end, Kieron Pollard and Nathan Coulter-Nile's quickfire runs helped MI post 176/6.

For KXIP, Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh picked two wickets each while Jordan and Ravi Bishnoi grabbed one wicket each.
