Mumbai: The International Cricket Council's decision to appoint Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ehsan Mani's as the chairman of its all-powerful Financial and Commercial Affairs Committee (FMCA) has not gone well with BCCI, according to the reports doing round.

Earlier, under the supervision of ECB chairman Colin Graves, ICC’s FMCA arm had demanded that Indian cricket board should pay US$23.5m as tax refunds to the International Cricket Council for the 2016 World T20, which was held in India.

“The Indian government had refused tax exemptions back then, which was duly followed by the BCCI. The board can’t do anything if the government doesn’t allow. That was conveyed to the ICC and Shashank (Manohar) himself was part of the board when these decisions were taken. In fact, he was BCCI president when the World T20 was played in India,” a leading Indian newspaper quoted a source saying.

“Expect this tax-related battle to heat up some time soon,” the sources said, before adding, “It’s not just about the $23.5m that ICC is after. It has not paid BCCI what is due to it from ICC’s overall revenue share. That’s a huge amount the ICC is not paying and nobody here is asking questions.”
