A ruthless New Zealand, that was blanked 5-0 in T20I series, wrapped up the first Test against much-fancied India in just over three days here on Monday.
Resuming their innings from the overnight score of 144 for four, the visitors were bundled out for 191 in 81 overs in their second innings. While one can argue that India's performance was a bit better than their first innings, where they scored 165, it does not count for anything as the hosts required just nine runs for their 100th Test win.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli might not concern himself with just one defeat in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC), but Trent Boult (4/39 in 22 overs) and Tim Southee (5/61 in 21 overs), one of the finest but most under-rated new ball pairs in world cricket have once again shown that when it boils down to playing incisive seam and swing bowling, this batting line-up is still a work in progress.
With the win over India, New Zealand on Monday became seventh Test-playing nation to register 100 wins in the longest format of the game.
