Harmanpreet, Smrithi, Mithali to lead at Women's T20 Challenge

Women's T20 Challenge will be played between May 6 and May 11 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Thursday.

Jaipur: Harmanpreet Kaur, Smrithi Mandhana and Mithali Raj will lead the Supernovas, Trailblazers, and Velocity respectively in the upcoming Women's T20 Challenge to be played between May 6 and May 11 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Thursday.

India's best cricketers and future stars will be joined by international players from England, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in a four-match tri-series.

India's women's team coach, W.V. Raman, will coach the Supernovas, while Biju George will be in charge of the Trailblazers. Velocity will be coached by former India captain Mamatha Maben.

Supernovas: Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Anuja Patil, Arundhati Reddy, Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka), Jemimah Rodrigues, Lea Tahuhu (New Zealand), Mansi Joshi, Natalie Sciver (England), Poonam Yadav, Priya Punia, Radha Yadav, Sophie Devine (New Zealand), Taniya Bhatia (wicketkeeper).

Kolkatta: Riyan Parag's explosive innings at the end helps Rajasthan Royals beat Kokatta Kinght Riders by 3 wickets in their Indian Premire League contest, here at Eden Garden. This is KKR's 6th consecuitive loss.



At one time Rajasthan was 98 for 5 and the match looked out of the sight for the visitors. Riyan while smashing 47 off 31 balls studded with two sixes and 7 fours, build a partnership with Shreyas Gopal and Jofra Archer.



In the 19th over the match saw another twist in the tale when Parag got out by hiting wicket by his bat. But Archer sealed the game with four balls to speare.  



Chasing down the a fighting target of 176, former captain Ajinkya Rahane and wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson gave a cracking start to the Rajasthan's inning. Both the opners took the charge on the inexperince seamers of KKR. Rajasthan went past 50 run mark in sixth over.



But when skipper Dinesh Karthik put the spinners on the senrio changed in just two overs as Rahane was dissmised by Sunil Narine while Samson was clean bowled by Piyush Chawla. Captain Steven Smith also failed to made an impact as he got out at 2.



Earlier, Dinesh Karthik smashed 50 balls 97 runs, studded with nine sixes and seven fours to help KKR post a total of 175. This was Dinesh Karthik's highest individual score in the history of IPL.

The host not had the best of the start from the new opening pair of Shubman Gill and Chris Lynn. Rajasthan's speedster Varun Aaron was on fire and sent both the opening batsman in the dugout.

For RR Shreyas Gopal bowled good first two overs but went for 25 runs in the third where KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik hit him for three boundaries and one six. Jaydev Unadkat also took one wicket but leaked runs at the economy of 12. Aaron was the pick of the bowlers as he clinched two wickets by giving away just runs 20.



Riyan was named man of the match for his match winning knock.
