Ganguly will prove to be an asset for BCCI: Ex-IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla

The appointment of Ganguly, who has donned many hats, including presiding over the administration of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) became the only contender for the top job that was finalised last week.

Mumbai: Former Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Rajeev Shukla on Wednesday said that the newly elected BCCI President Sourav Ganguly would prove to be an asset for the world's richest cricket body, BCCI.

"It's a happy moment for Indian cricket. Sourav Ganguly has got great talent. He will prove to be an asset to the BCCI," Shukla told reporters here.

"It will be a good combination. He led Indian cricket so well. These are happy times for the game."

The appointment of Ganguly, who has donned many hats, including presiding over the administration of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) became the only contender for the top job that was finalised last week.Along with Ganguly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son Jay Shah was made the Secretary. Kerala's Jayesh George was appointed as BCCI Joint Secretary, while Mahim Verma of Uttarakhand became the new Vice President.Former BCCI President Anurag Thakur's younger brother Arun Dhumal became the Treasurer.
