Former New Zealand cricketer Adam Parore admits to drink-driving charge...

Auckland: Former New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Parore has been charged with drink-driving at Auckland's Papakura district court. The Kiwi batsman has been sentenced to $500 fine and will be banned for six months from driving.

The 47-year-old former cricketer was caught driving under the influence of alcohol. When the police pulled him over he failed a breathalyzer test and had a blood alcohol level of 100 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood, when the legal limit is 50 milligrams per 100 milliliters.

Parore was charged with one charge of driving with excess breath alcohol. He made a brief appearance before community magistrate Lauolefale Lemalu and was sentenced at his first appearance.

Parore played 78 Test cricket matches and 179 One Day Internationals for New Zealand from 1990-2002. He was one of the best wicket-keepers to have donned the black caps jersey as he took 313 catches and 32 stumpings to his name. He had featured in the New Zealand team that played in the World Cup in 1996 and 1999.

Presently, Parore is the managing director of his financial services firm Adam Parore Mortgages.
