Mumbai: Jasprit Bumrah's "recovery is on track" after the India fast bowler sustained a shoulder injury during the IPL clash between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.
"Bumrah is in Mumbai along with team physio (Nitin Patel) continuing with the assessment. His recovery is on track and fortunately, no sign on stress," Mumbai Indians media manager said on Monday.
The 25-year-old walked off the field in visible pain after injuring his left shoulder while trying to stop the ball hit by wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant.
However, Bumrah could not make clean contact and fell over. Later, he did not come out to bat as Mumbai lost their opening match by 37-runs at the Wankhede Stadium.
It was a major blow for India as Bumrah is a crucial contender for the team in the upcoming World Cup in England. The Mumbai franchise allayed fears, saying the fast bowler had recovered well and will be further assessed.
Mumbai will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 28.
