Mumbai: Rasikh Salam, Kashmir born pace bowler Rasikh Salam, might get some relief now after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced relaxation in age fraud rule. BCCI had banned Salam for two years in June for age fudging.
The decision regarding relaxation in age fraud was taken in a meeting held on June 29 in Delhi of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). The minute of the meeting was uploaded on the BCCI website on Wednesday.
According to the report, now such cricketers will be allowed to play in interclub matches or tournaments in the second year of their ban. According to the previous rule, players found guilty of birth certificate tampering were banned from participating in any match or tournament organised by BCCI for two years.
"After some discussion, the CoA approved the revision in the age fraud policy to the extent of state associations permitting participation in club matches/tournaments in the second year of the two-year ban," the minute reads.
Interestingly, BCCI's decision to ban players for age fraud for two years was taken last year in November.
