BCCI announces India squad for WTC final, England Test series

Four players -- Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Arzan Nagwaswalla -- have been put on standby while KL Rahul, who underwent surgery after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis, will have to pass the fitness clearance test.

Hyderabad: The BCCI on Friday announced a 20-member Indian squad for the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final and the five-match Test series against England.

Fit-again all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and batsman Hanuma Vihari have made a comeback to the national team whereas Kuldeep Yadav and Navdeep Saini couldn't make the cut.

The World Test Championship will take place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from June 18 to 22 against New Zealand before taking on England in a five-match series.

The series against England will begin at Nottingham (Aug 4-8) and will be followed by matches at Lord's (August 12-16), Leeds (Aug 25-29), Oval (Sep 2-6) and Manchester (Sep 10-14).

Four players -- Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Arzan Nagwaswalla -- have been put on standby while KL Rahul, who underwent surgery after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis, will have to pass the fitness clearance test.

Wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha too will have to take the test after he tested positive for Covid-19 during IPL.

India's squad: Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane (VC), Rohit Sharma, Gill, Mayank, Cheteshwar Pujara, H. Vihari, Rishabh (WK), R. Ashwin, R. Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Bumrah, Ishant, Shami, Siraj, Shardul, Umesh.
