New Delhi: Viktor Axelsen registered 21-7, 22-20 win against Kidambi Srikanth to clinch his second India Open men's singles title here at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Danish shuttler looked unstoppable as he registered the title win in just 46 minutes.
World no. 7 Srikanth, who reached the men's singles final of a tournament for the first time in a year, was overpowered by Axelsen.
The Danish shuttler bagged the first set 21-7 within 12 minutes as he earned 10 straight points displaying his sheerdominance over the Indian in the match.
Srikanth had two points to wrap up the second game and square the proceeding, but unforced errors cost him the game which eventually saw Axelsen clinching his second India Open title after 2017.
Axelsen, a silver medallist at the 2018 All England Championships, played first India Open final in 2015 when Srikanth had the last laugh.

The 25-year-oldwas leading the second set 11-9 but Srikanth went on to make it 20-18 in his favour as the crowd kept cheering him.
But, the world no. 4 Axelsen held his nerves to winthe title till the last moment and then celebrated the victory in style, first throwing his racquet and then T-shirt into the stands.
