Hyderabad: Star shuttler PV Sindhu on Sunday created history as she became first Indian to win BWF World Championships gold after she thrashed her Japanese counterpart Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 in the final of the competition.
Now, after returning to India, the 24-year-old said that her ultimate goal will be to win the gold medal in Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Sindhu also revealed how she plans to prepare for the mega event.
"Every tournament is different, every player has a different style of play and every time we go on court, the game is changing. Hence, we need to strategise accordingly and change our game accordingly and we have been practising that," Sindhu said in a press conference.
"I think it is very important to play a different type of game every time, as players are aware of each others game which can give them an upper hand. So, we are working on that aspect and we will be working on developing new skills. We will be working hard for the 2020 Olympics," she added.
Interestingly, Sindhu's latest win made her the joint highest medal-winner in women's singles in the World Championships history with former Olympic champion Zhang Ning of China, who won an identical 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze between 2001 and 2007.
