Renuka Shahane urges to extend financial aid to friend Nupur Alankar

Actor Renuka Shahane took to social media to urge her fans to extend financial aid to her actor friend Nupur Alankar, who is in a severe financial crunch as she lost her savings in scam-hit Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank and need monetary help for her ailing mother's medical treatment.

Mumbai: Renuka Shahane posted a plea for help as her good friend and television actor Nupur Alankar, who is in a helpless condition and urgently needs money for her ailing mother's medical treatment.

Nupur had lost her savings in the Pune & Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank collapse in 2019. Besides, she has an ailing mother who needs immediate medical attention. As the television industry remains paralysed by lockdown, it is either turning into a struggle with mental health or a matter of survival.

Her friend, Renuka has posted a plea for help on social media and has asked people to help Nupur is going through a severe financial crunch.

She wrote, "A very dear actress friend of mine, Nupur Alankar has been facing a lot of financial problems due to all her money, unfortunately, being stuck in the PMC bank which crashed leaving their customers in the lurch. Nupur has been taking care of her ailing mother with whatever income she was generating through acting & practising alternate therapy. Due to the lockdown that work has stopped. Her mother needs hospitalization which is going to cost a lot. I am sharing her mother's account details. Do donate whatever you can to help. Trust me when I say that Nupur is the last person who would ask for help unless she was pushed to the brink. Thank You.”

Nupur was seen in shows like Swaragini, Tantra and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Bar Phir.

The more than two-month-long lockdown has caused financial crisis for people across the nation, and actors who essay small roles are particularly hit. Lack of money and work has caused a couple of TV actors of them to take extreme steps like committing suicide.

TV actor Manmeet Grewal committed suicide reportedly owing to financial constraints. Television actor Ashiesh Roy is in hospital in a critical condition and has sought financial help for a dialysis. Hamari Bahu Silk actors, including Zaan Khan and Chahat Pandey, have shared their struggles due to the non-payment of dues. Actor Nia Sharma had revealed that several of her friends in the industry were in severe financial crunch because they had not been paid for months.

Recently Begusarai actor Rajesh Kareer too pleaded for monetary help in a Facebook video uploaded by actor Susheel Bonthiyaal.
