Ramayan which made a historic comeback on the small screen amid lockdown has recreated its magic yet again. Garnering a new set of fanbase, the show is trending on Twitter as tweeples want the government to honour the team that worked behind putting together the mega show three decades ago.

Mumbai: Late Ramanand Sagar's mythological serial Ramayan, which is over three-decade-old, made a historic comeback on the small screen by garnering highest ratings for a Hindi GEC show since 2015. The fans now want the makers and starcast honoured by the government.

#AwardForRamayan is trending on micro-blogging site as the netizens are rooting for the team getting awarded as they feel it's long due.

Social media users are voicing their opinion and trying to make it heard by the authorities and few are even tagging Prime Minister in their tweets.

The unanimous voice on Twitter is that the show and the talents attached to it should be honoured as this epic series promotes culture and moral values which motivate the new generation as well.

On April 25, Arun Govil, who played the role of Ram, took to Twitter and stated that no government, either central or state, gave him any award for his work but he was content with what the Almighty had given him by associating his name with Lord Ram, and being a human was enough for him.

Amid the ongoing 21-day nationwide lockdown, the evergreen series was re-telecast on Doordarshan on public demand. The Ramanand Sagar production also became the highest watched serial in the Hindi general entertainment space. The show was the highest rated in urban and megacities.

Ramayan is an Indian historical-drama epic television series, which aired during 1987-1988, created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar. The show was a television adaptation of the ancient Indian Hindu epic of the same name.
