Popular television actor in Kashmir Shadi Lal Kaul breathed his last on Sunday. His son Vijay confirmed his death in a social media post.

Jammu: Renowned theatre, television actor and radio jockey Shadi Lal Kaul passed away early on Sunday morning.

He breathed his last at 2:45 am in Jammu.

Kaul, who was best known as a prominent Kashmiri comedian, acted in several TV serials. He was from Chota Bazar area of Srinagar in Kashmir.

Shadi Lal Koul was "fighting to survive" for the past one week.

"After the most difficult week fighting to survive my loving dad, Mr Shadi Lal Kaul passed away. He breathed his last today morning at 2:45 am. Family friends stayed by his side caring for him. We held his hands and walked with him to the end," his son Vijay wrote in a social media post.

Owing to uncertainty in the valley, Kaul reportedly migrated to Jammu in the year 1990 with other Kashmiri pundits.

A few characters from television serials that kept him alive among the audiences are Amaar, Adam Zaad, Pazar Yeli Muod, Pagah Sholi Duniya, Anjaam, Ghulam Begam Badshah, Jetti Wanai, Naav Daar Aab, Soada, Treti Buzun, Cherry Truck and Gaash Pholnas Taam.
