US: 'The Lion King' roared into 4,725 theaters of North America and grossed a stunning 18.5 crores on July 21.

With this gross, it has become the biggest July opening of all time dislodging 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2' and a PG-rating record taking over from 'The Incredibles 2'.

The film has turned out to be far too modest projection with 18.5 crores opening.

Although reviews were mixed for Jon Favreau's remake of the 1994 animated film, audiences still turned out in flocks to hear the A-list voice cast from Beyonce to Donald Glover and see the innovative technology that made the film possible.

Meanwhile, Simba and Mufasa are having a gala time in India. 'The Lion King' opened to a weekend collection of over Rs 65 crore at the domestic box office.

In the competition ground, with 'Lion King' ranking 18.5 crores net income till now, 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' earned 2.1 crores, 'Toy Story 4' acquired 1.46 crores, 'Crawl' came up with 0.6 crores, 'Yesterday' earned 0.51 crores, 'Stuber' collected 0.4 crores, 'Aladdin' obtained 0.38 crores, 'Annabelle Comes Home' reaped 0.27 crores, 'Midsommar' received 0.16 crores and 'The Secret Life of Pets 2' secured 0.15 crores.
