Los Angeles: After more than 40 years playing the same character – even if it is in one of the most successful franchises in film history – it comes as no surprise that actor Mark Hamill says he's done with playing Jedi Luke Skywalker after 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' is released in December.
But is it really, really going to be his final Star Wars appearance?
"I sure hope so," Hamill replied with a laugh, working the press gauntlet on the arrivals line at the premiere of 'Child's Play' on June 19 in Los Angeles.
It is not that Hamill is tired of the role or the franchise.
"I had closure in the last (film)," he explained. "I mean, the only, the fact that I'm involved in any capacity is only because of that peculiar aspect of the Star Wars mythology where if you're a Jedi you get to come back, and make a curtain call as a Force ghost."
'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' hits Indian theaters on December 20.
