Last year, Colman was shooting for British documentary series 'Who Do You Think You Are' and this took her to Kisanganj, Bihar, India.

The Norfolk dweller was astounded to know her connection with India.

In an episode of the documentary, Colman found out that her great-great-great-great grandfather from maternal side Richard Campbell Bazett, who worked in London and Kolkata for East India Company, had a son Charles, whose wife Harriot happens to be great great great grandmother of the actress who was born in Kishanganj in 1807.

Colman visited a former British club in Kishanganaj where she found Harriot's marriage certificate, and also came to Know that Harriot's mother was not British, but an Indian. Soon after, her father died in a road accident, and Harriot was taken back to England.

Later, Colman travelled back to Calcutta and found out that Harriot married William Trigg Garett.

In 1838, Harriot married again, this time with Charles Young Bazett.

Colman said later, "I thought there was nobody exotic in my family. I was so wrong! ... I hadn't got a clue that India played any part of my family."
