Los Angeles: The makers of one of the most anticipated films 'The Lion King' have recently held a closed-door premiere at Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The film is a remake of the 1994 Disney production.

After directing 'The Jungle Book', Jon Favreau has taken ground breaking animation technology to the next level for his adaptation of Disney's 'The Lion King' in 2019.

While the story and the songs remained unchanged, the cast brought in new life to the movie's iconic character.

Legendary actor James Earl Jones played the role of Mufasa, reprising his character from the 1994 film.

In a recent interview, Favreau revealed: "Mufasa is the one role where it really didn't feel dated. All of the speeches he makes are timeless and apply to each age, whereas with the humour, the music, all those other aspects, there were opportunities to update the material. With James Earl Jones, that role probably stayed as close to the original as any."

From the 'Hakuna Matata' montage, Donald Glover who is playing Simba gave hints upon visualising the growth of Simba. "Jon was very keen in making sure we saw Simba's transition from a boy to a man and how hard that can be when there's been a deep trauma," he said.

Timon and Pumbaa, the film's Meerkat-Warthog pair, are played by Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen.

Talking about the Meerkat-Warthog pair, Rogen said that they are a little more like a married couple. He told: "They are very, very very close friends, and like any two people who spend a lot of time together, they start to have things that bother one another about each other. Meerkats are very quick, fast-paced animals and Warthogs are a little on the slower side."

Speaking about their dynamic, Eichner said: "I think overall our dynamic is a bit more controversial," further adding, "we are both larger than life performers so I'm not saying it's subtle, but it is controversial."

Chiwetel Ejiofor who played Scar, the black sheep brother of King Mufasa said that the relationship between the siblings "is completely destroyed and brutalised by Scar's way of thinking. He is possessed with this disease of his own ego and his own want."

The hyena cronies have also gotten a slight revise in Favreau's adaptation as well.
