For Reese Witherspoon, reuniting with Jennifer Aniston 'dream come true'

London: Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston were here on November 1, for a special screening of their new Apple TV series, The Morning Show.

Talking about her reunion with Jennifer, Reese said: "It was wonderful. I mean, we haven't worked together for a while, since Friends, but working together on this show was just a dream come true."

The program follows Aniston and Witherspoon's characters, co-hosts of a morning show, whose male anchor co-star has been fired for sexual misconduct.

It's inspired by a book by Brian Stelter called Top of the Morning about the cutthroat world of morning television, but the writing changed with the rise of the #MeToo movement and allegations of sexual misconduct by news personalities including Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose.

"I'm enormously grateful to Steve Carell for taking this part and really being part of this conversation," said Witherspoon. "Our writers are just very astute… They really balance this idea of what is the news and then also who are the human beings experiencing the news, not just headlines, but what goes on with people who are accused of crimes or have to fill in for other people."

Aniston and Witherspoon are co-executive producers on the project and a second season has already been commissioned.

"To have a real collaborative input was something so enormous," Witherspoon said. "Just seven years ago, it would have been sort of unlikely that we would have this kind of input."

The Morning Show debuts exclusively on Apple TV+ on November 1.
