New York: Anne Hathaway said she was "so moved" by the script for her episode of Amazon's new series, Modern Love.

The Oscar winner plays Lexi, a woman navigating romance with bipolar disorder, in an episode of the anthology. The series, based on The New York Times' column of the same name, debuts Oct. 18. Hathaway's episode is based on an actual essay written by a woman named Terry Cheney.

"I was so captivated with the character and her journey and moved by it and it reminded me of people I knew so, yeah, it was just a very easy yes."

To help illustrate her character's bipolar disorder, there are some choreographed moments to accentuate the high that her character is on when she's feeling up.

"I thought they made sense to me," said Hathaway. "I thought that they were fun. Our big question was were they appropriate and so we gave the script to Terry Cheney, the person whose script this is based on and she wrote back and said, 'This is such a wonderful way to interpret my states and the places that I go' and I thought it was a really _ a lot of people have told us it's been a really helpful visual for them to understand like what their friend is actually experiencing."

Hathaway said the series is a respite from these divisive times.

"It just feels like there's a lot of, with all the antagonism that's going on, all the divisiveness, all the anger and the hatred and everything, I think most of us try to make it through the day by trying not to feel, by trying not to engage," said Hathaway.

Anne also said she's open to doing other TV roles in the future.
