As Anupam Kher expressed condolence on Sushant Singh Rajput's demise, netizens took a dig at an old case of the veteran who had threatened Bengali actor Rita Koiral to destroy her Tollywood career if the actor revealed that she had voiced Kirron Kher's character Banalata in the movie Bariwali.

Mumbai: Over the last few days, after Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide, Bollywood has been reeling in controversies related to nepotism, bullying and sabotaging of work. After Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar who are being criticized for the nepotism debate, now Anupam Kher has been trolled for the past case, in which Bengali actor Rita Koiral alleged the veteran for threatening to destroy and sabotage her career in Tollywood.

A group of netizens have shared a video in which Rita is seen talking about the 2000 Bengali film Bariwali, directed by late Rituparno Ghosh. The actor told that she had lent voice to Anupam's wife Kirron Kher's character Banalata in the movie Bariwali.

She further revealed that one day, Anupam called Rita and said that he will give the full payment for dubbing, asked her not to reveal that she voiced for the Banalata character. And when the actor denied doing so, the veteran threatened to destroy and sabotage her career in Tollywood and ruin any prospects of her getting into Bollywood.

Bariwali was nominated for National Film Awards. The dubbing artist is also honoured along with the lead actor if the film receives the award. Thus, to confer the whole credit to wife Kirron, Anupam decided to bribe Rita.

Later, filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh said in an interview on many channels that Rita dubbed for Kirron's character in the movie.
