Mumbai: While talking about the ongoing CAA protests being held across the country, Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon said that the violence is not a solution to anything.

Several B-Towners have been vocal in denouncing the police violence on students at Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University earlier this week, and many have subsequently joined the students in their protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

Kriti too have expressed concern over the CAA and protests that followed. At an promotional event, the actor condemned violence against silent protesters and said opinions "need to be heard".

“Violence is not solution to anything. Right now what we need is proper conversation on the topic. People need to be heard. Students were protesting and I think silent protest is our right. People who are protesting need to have conversation with the government and their view point need to be come out,” said Kriti, at a pet care brand's promotional event.

At a time when many Bollywood A-listers are facing flak for their silence over the ongoing nationwide protests following police violence at Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University, Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan are among the few top players who have chosen to open up on the issue.

Besides, PeeCee and Hrithik, many from the film fraternity including actors Farhan Akhtar, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Parineeti Chopra, Siddharth Malhotra, veteran screenwriter Javed Akhtar, filmmakers Vishal Bhardwaj Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Hollywood actor John Cusack have expressed solidarity with the youth over the police crackdown inside the varsity campuses.

There have been widespread protests held across India against the CAA, which grants Indian citizenship to persecuted religious minorities, like Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians, from the neighbouring Muslim-majority countries of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who have taken shelter in India as on December 31, 2014.

The protesters claim that the legislation is "unconstitutional and divisive" as it excludes Muslims.
