Hyderabad: Late actor Vinod Mehra's daughter Soniya Mehra, who is living in UAE, has opened up on the apparent wedding of her father and Rekha which reportedly took place in Kolkata.
Vinod and Rekha were among the most appreciated Bollywood pairs in 1970s. The rumoured couple was said to grow close when Vinod was caught-up between Bindiya Goswami and his first wife, Meena while Rekha was dealing with loneliness after the infamous affair with Amitabh Bachchan.
In a recent interview with a leading daily, Soniya was asked if her father and Rekha had got married as rumours and the book 'Rekha: The Untold Story', penned by Yasser Usman, suggested that they had tied the knot and describes a very unpleasant meeting between Mehra's mother and Rekha.

Soniya, who is a yoga instructor in Dubai said she never felt the need to ask her mother Kiran Mehra if her father had indeed tied the knot with Rekha. She also said that she would have been told if there is something important.
"I cannot comment on that question because I am not in the know. It was all before I was even born. Frankly, I also don't have a right to comment on it as it is their life. As far as I am concerned, they were just close and dear friends," quipped Soniya who was just one-and-half year old when Vinod passed away in 1990 at the young age of 45.
Vinod made his debut in Hindi cinema as a child artiste in the film Raagni in the 1950s. He later gained prominence with his full-fledged role in 1971 in the film Ek Thi Reeta.
