Mumbai: Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who marked the completion of 30 years of his hit crime drama Parinda on Sunday, announced his new directorial project Shikara. The film will clash with Amitabh Bachchan’s thriller 'Chehre', Vicky Kaushal’s horror drama 'BHOOT: Part One – The Haunted Ship Movie'.

"Shikara - A love letter from Kashmir will release on 21st February 2020. The film will be directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and presented by Fox Star Hindi," read a post on the official Twitter handle of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films.

The filming for Shikara reportedly began in March 2018 in Kashmir.

Interestingly, this film will clash with three other Bollywood movies, already scheduled to release on February 21, 2020. Emraan Hashmi and Amitabh Bachchan’s thriller Chehre, Vicky Kaushal’s horror drama BHOOT: Part One – The Haunted Ship Movie and Anurag Basu’s untitled next have already booked the same date.

This is not the first that Vidhu Vinod Chopra is making a film involving Kashmir as one of the major elements in the theme. He had earlier helmed the action thriller film Mission Kashmir in 2000.

His better-known films include Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, Munna Bhai film series (Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai), 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.

He is the founder of Vinod Chopra Films and Vinod Chopra Productions.
