Hyderabad: Actor Vicky Kaushal is set to play Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in an upcoming biopic helmed by Meghna Gulzar. On Manekshaw's birth anniversary today, Vicky remembered 'The brave heart' with a special tribute.
Sam Manekshaw, or Sam Bahadur as he was popularly known, was born on April 3, 1914. Vicky, who will be seen essaying the role of Sam Manekshaw in his next film, has remembered the Field Marshal on his birth anniversary.
Paying tribute to Manekshaw, Vicky has shared a video on his Instagram which is adorned by Gulzar's inimitable style and distinctive voice. The post also revealed the title of biopic. "The man. The legend. The brave heart. Our Samबहादुर... On the birth anniversary of Field Marshal #SamManekshaw, his story has found its name. #SamBahadur," the National Award-winning actor wrote alongside the video.

Talking about the film and him bagging the lead role, Vicky had earlier said that Manekshaw is a "true legend that this country has produced." The actor had further added, "it's an honour of the highest order for me to get an opportunity to play the part of Field Marshal Manekshaw. I am excited about that film."
Manekshaw cheated death on a few occasions, both on the battlefield and away from it. He, however, lived on to be a nonagenarian dying in Wellington, Tamil Nadu, on June 27, 2008. The Field Marshal led the country to victory against Pakistan in 1971.
