Mumbai: Actor Vicky Kaushal spoke out on the drug allegations at Karan Johar's party. He said that those allegations had a huge effect on him.
In an interview with media, he said, "What I understand is that people who don't know you personally, see something and make an assumption..that's completely fine. We all do that. But factualizing assumptions...It's a big leap to take and that's not fair all the time."
"We all knew the video was being taken and five minutes before the video was shot Karan's mom was with us. The video was put up. Next day I left for Arunachal Pradesh. I was with the army for the next four days in the hills where there is no network. So I have no clue of what's going on," Vicky added.
He said that he was unaware of the whole scenario until he returned home. Sirsa had requested Mumbai police to file an FIR against the celebrities under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985. Sirsa wrote, "These drug-addicted stars are setting a wrong trend in real life; while on-screen they defamed our State & its youth! (sic)."
He even wrote an open letter stating, "If it wasn't a powder-impacted state, why did you all appear stoned and shamelessly out of your senses? Does your dislike for drugs and narcotic substances limited to the on-screen presence and just to defame a state for some cheap publicity (and hefty money)?. Is there any passion within when you associate with a cause or all the campaigning is a part "Drama" done to please some group or agenda-setters?"
On this Vicky said, "I returned and checked Twitter and I was like 'Hain ji?' 'What?'. FIR...open letter..ye woh. Of course, it had a huge effect on me. It is not nice to be called those names by people."
Karan Johar in response to these allegations said, "There were achieving members of the industry who were having an easy night out after a hard week of work, having a good time. I took that video with all the earnestness... would I be putting out that video if there was anything happening at all, I am not stupid."
