Varun warms up for biopic on war hero

The Sui Dhaaga actor is back with his Badlapur team to film his next flick which is based on the life of a war hero Arun Khetarpal. The actor today announced the news on social media.

Varun Dhawan reunites with team Badlapur for biopic on war hero

Mumbai: Bollywood powerhouse Varun Dhawan, who has been working on his father David Dhawan's Coolie No. 1, announced his next project on Monday.

After the critically acclaimed movie Badlapur, the actor is reuniting with director Sriram Raghavan for a biopic on late Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal.

The Kalank actor announced the news on the occasion of Arun's birth anniversary. He also mentioned that playing a soldier was on his dream list. He further called it the 'most important' film of his career.

Making a post on Instagram, he wrote: "Happy birthday 2/lt ARUNKHETRAPAL. It's always been my dream to play a solider of INDIA. This is my most important film."

He further added: "Can't wait to be directed by the mad genius Sriram Raghavan one more time to bring to the big screen the life of 2/lt ARUN KHETARPAL. Can't wait to begin working with dino vision my producer who always has a vision but this time with emotion. Hope to make you proud Mukesh Khetarpal and #poonahorse. JAI HIND. Thank you to my fans and hope I don't let you down."

Bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan, the yet-to-be-titled film will show the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was an officer of the Indian Army and a posthumous recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration for valour in face of the enemy. At the age of 21, he sacrificed his life during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.

The film will reportedly pay a tribute to him and also will focus on his relationship with his father.

Apart from the forthcoming biopic, Varun will be next seen in Coolie No. 1 and Street Dancer.
