Mumbai: 'Sui Dhaga - Made In India' has been nominated to Shanghai International Film Festival The Belt and Road Film Week, 2019.

Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer 'Sui Dhaaga- Made In India' is the sole Indian film to compete in the film festival which kick-started on Saturday.

Breaking the news to his followers, Varun twitted: "Mauji Mamta shall be at the Shanghai international film festival as the only Hindi film chosen for the competition."

The film is based on the story of self-reliance and high spirits of Mamta and Mauji, a tailor and an embroiderer respectively rooted in an earthy town of India.

The motion picture attempts to salute the inherent entrepreneurial spirit of the youth and the local artisans of the country.

The movie narrates the story of a village couple who start their own business. The film has also touched upon some heart-warming aspects of pride and self-reliance while taking forward the message of 'Made in India'.

It attempts to highlight the untapped potential of India's talented craftsmen and skilled workers at the grass-root level and the challenges and issues faced by them.

The film, which hit the big screens on September 28, 2018, had received an overwhelming response from audience and critics alike.

The 2018 box-office hit, which marked yet another collaboration of the National Award-winning producer-director duo Maneesh Sharma and Sharat Katariya, the only Hindi film to compete in the prestigious film festival this year.
