Mumbai: Actor Urmila Matondkar on Friday expressed gratitude to the "real people of India" for supporting her after actor Kangana Ranaut called her a "soft porn star."
Taking to Twitter, Matondkar called out the fake "propaganda" and wrote: "Thank you the Real People of India and a rare breed of unbiased, dignified media for standing by me. It's Your victory over fake IT trolls n propaganda. Deeply touched... humbled #JaiHind."

Ranaut's vile comment met with criticism from the industry, with many including Ram Gopal Varma, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and actor Swara Bhasker hailing Matondkar's consistent "grace and dignity" throughout her career of over 25 years.
Others from the fraternity who came out in support of Matondkar include actors Pooja Bhatt, Sayani Gupta and screenwriter Kanika Dhillon.

Commenting on Urmila's tweet, netizens showered love and support for the actor.
"Grew up watching your movies. My childhood has Rangeela etched in my memories. Avoid all filth coming from fake media because goodness always prevail over vices. I wish you all the best for your upcoming work in cinema. Also thanking you for entertaining us during 90s decade," wrote a user.
"We are proud of you... We need people like you in our country to make our country great," commented another.
