Hyderabad: Actor Taapsee Pannu entered Bollywood with David Dhawan's 2013 released Chashme Baddoor. But, before that, she had already worked in nearly a dozen films in the South. The actor then moved to Mumbai which was a challenging career move as she had to go through the grind as a fresher all over again despite having 10 films tucked under her belt.
After the release of her Hindi debut, Taapsee shifted her base to Mumbai from Chennai. The actor had earlier opened up about her struggle while making the transition to Hindi cinema. Pannu in a throwback interview had revealed that she even stopped attending events and parties during her struggling days in Mumbai so that no one could label her as a social climber later.

In her latest interview with a leading daily, the actor was again asked if she was apprehensive about starting from scratch in Hindi cinema. Replying to which Taapsee said, "In my kind of a job, when you get too complacent, your growth stops. Even with my film roles, I try to push myself out of my comfort zone, otherwise, it can get boring. Working in the comfort zone is not a good thing for an actor. As for starting in Hindi films from scratch, I don’t take myself so seriously. I didn’t think of how people will treat me. I was prepared that I will have to struggle. I was certain that even if it bruises my ego a bit, it will wash off easily.

The actor also said that Bollywood provided her the opportunity to learn from her mistakes and doing films in her mother tongue was a lot easier than learning the Southern languages.
"Hindi is my mother tongue, and I am familiar with it more than the languages down South. I knew I had to go through the grind to get what I was seeking. Bollywood gave me a chance to learn from my mistakes and start afresh. I knew exactly what I don’t enjoy and that has worked perfectly for me when it comes to selecting my projects," Taapsee said.
